upD^TE

Its finally come down to when I really needa decide what college I actually want to go to. I like both of the schools. I went to the Dean's Day presentation at PNCA and it was fun but nobody seemed that excited. The faculty was talking about how excited they are without being to excited. So I think its come down to that if I can get all loans, grants etc. figured out that Im going to be going to CCA. I feel like Im more confident in it. It will be nice to start off new in a new city and meet new people and been in a different environment. I feel as though it'll push me farther as an artist and as a person. Its nice to have all of my concentration pieces done. I still need to finish matting, painting sides of canvasses, putting in eye screws and writing my artists statement. I wish I could post some pictures of my work but I don't have any photos on my laptop of my work. Im also excited to see all of my art up together at the showcase I think it will give a good feel of how it all fits together.

....

So i watched this video today, I thought it was pretty amazing and inspiring. I think that its an amazing idea. Taking old run down buildings that are basically destroyed and making this art on the walls and integrating the art into the people and the community. I thought it was cool that they were also getting the kids involved and making them feel like they are part of the art project too. Another cool project like this except with pictures and posters is happening by an artist that goes by JR you should check it out.

On a side note last weekend I finished my first concentration piece. It came so naturally and I need to work on it more but i think it turned out well.

Wow the year is almost over. Its gone by so fast it seems like it just started. It seems so close to graduation and there is still so much work to do before its over. I think that I have pretty much decided that I want to go to PNCA. I all together in grants and scholarships received almost 24,000 a year to CCA and almost 16,000 a year to PNCA. Im excited to go to college, Im excited to do something new and exciting and to start learning how to live and do things on my own.

UPDATE

SOOOO I found out on thursday that I got accepted to PNCA. Then friday I got another letter in the mail from PNCA and I got a $36,000 scholarship, or 9,000 a year! So I'm pretty excited. Now I'm just waiting to  hear back from CCA and PNCA about financial aid before I decide which one I wanna go to. Either one would be pretty aweesomeee though so yeah. Today I dont really have much to do so I think ill try to start a concentration piece or at least do some art for fun.

After doing the first half of my concentration it has been getting much more difficult to come up with new ideas for pieces. Since my concentration is corruption of the human body and mind so I think my next ones are going to be focused on tattoos and piercings. My first is gonna be a guy with number tattoos and a guy with piercings on his face. Give me feedback if you've got it.

Concentration/Inspiration.

I do not really have an adequately lighted place to take pictures of my two concentration pieces so ill just bring them in tomorrow and photograph them and put them up on my blog for everyone to see.

On a side note here is some of barry mcgee's work.
He inspires me, maybe he'll inspire you too.

concentration

So I've been trying to think of new ideas for my concentration to change it up. I have a few ideas and I've been looking at lots of artists to get inspiration. I got a whole bunch of these cool envelopes that I found so I might use those to work on. If you have any suggestions for ideas you should let me know. I'm also going to try to take pictures and post some of my art soon

Frustration.

So this one hundred photos thing was much harder for me than expected. It started off bad when I started looking for a camera, I asked my parents where one of the four point and shoot cameras (to carry around all the time) that we have is. They responded that my sister had destroyed hers by sitting on it, my dog ate my moms camera, my dad lost the battery to his and my sisters new camera was lost in a pile of junk in her closet. So I got out the DSLR and tried to carry it around but carrying around an old heavy Canon D60 is not something that is favorable. This turned the idea of taking lots of photos whenever I saw something I liked into having to go out specifically with the camera to take pictures. Another thing that made this difficult was the fact that I was being to picky and choosy and not taking shots (that i should have taken) because there was something that I did not like about the photo. So did not end up getting nearly as many photos as I would have liked or enough to meet the requirements for a few categories. I like how both of my concentration pieces turned out. I wanted to make one of them a drawing of the steel bridge from by the east side of the burnside bridge. While I was looking for a spot to take a picture and do a sketch a homeless man began hollering at me to come over to him, when I ignored him he started to walk over to me so I decided I should probably just walk away. As i'm walking down the street back to my car I see a tow truck speed around the corner turn on his lights and stop right next to my car. So I ran over to see what he was doing. He was just stopping to pull out his cell phone. So I ended up doing two different portraits and I like how both of them turned out but one of them feels like it is missing something on one side to me, ill seek advice from my classmates once I return to school. In the process of making the second piece I used almost a whole can of spray paint on one relatively small surface because I had to keep retrying layers. This left my whole room one big swirling mass of fumes. My room is small and even with having the window wide open the whole room was full of fumes. Luckily I was using a respirator and wasn't breathing this all in. This left my room covered in spray paint dust and I forgot to cover anything so now im going to have to spend a while cleaning it all off. While that was happening I also managed to spill a bottle of ink all over my carpet which is already covered in paint drips but nonetheless I would have prefered not to have two huge ink stains on my floor. Now I have retreated to sleeping in a different room on the couch because I dont want to deal with the big art mess that is my room right now....I need a studioooooo!
