STUFF...

This summer I went one of the summer seminars hosted by the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation. The program really hard but it was really helpful and it got me more motivated to start working on art afterwards. When i was there each day we would wake up and go to breakfast at 7. Then we would go to a three hour drawing class. Usually during this class we would be expected to produce a few pieces of artwork. Sometimes we got models and we would do some sketches and then create a drawing with a certain media that they gave us. One thing that I found difficult with the drawing class was that we usually werent allowed to use small pieces of paper to work on, we were given huge pieces of paper and we had to use that one piece of paper to create a portrait for example. I wasnt used to working this large while drawing. Another thing that was difficult about the drawing class was that it took place underground in a theatre room that was painted black with no windows, so we would have to sit underground in this depressing room for three hours.
Occasionally the drawing class was held outside. Which I liked much more since the scenery all around you was always amazing.

After the drawing class we would take a half hour break to go and eat lunch and then we would be sent to a painting class that took place in another nicer, more well lit building. The artist that taught the painting class was a landscape painter so most of the time we were painting outdoors during painting class. I found painting landscapes extremely difficult since i really had not had much experience in painting with just acrylics and a had had no experience with painting landscapes. So it was really difficult at first and then it started to get a little bit easier towards the end.
I wish I could post more pictures of my artwork but I have to find the disk that they sent me after the end of the seminar with pictures of some of my work. If i can find the disk then I will try to upload the pictures to the blog.
