Concentration.

Here are my photos finally. Sorry for the low quality and bad lighting.
My concentration is corruption of the human body and mind.

  1. I really like the line work in the first piece. The text makes you think, and I like the pop of color you added. I think it makes the piece. Something bugs me about the jawline. I think it's too small. Like if you continued drawing the mouth it would go off of the face. Maybe it doesn't matter. It kind of goes with this 'not being beautiful' thing. I would also keep adding on to the right side of the hair. I like how it's shorter but i think it should be thicker? For the other one, It seems like it's just part of a piece. Like it should extend on past the edges of the cardboard. I think that the whole thing going on in/in front of the mouth is kind of distracting. I also can't tell what the thing in front of the knives is. Is it a tongue? Maybe it looks better in real life. I really like the purple and white in the mouth, and your style in general really. (:

  2. I see what Lenae said about the jawline, and I agree. But I also can't decide if I like it or not-- because something about the slimming shape makes it seem more skeletal and corrupt. But as for the huge mouth piece-- I really like how you've deviated from your usual style of profile drawings with people with geometric faces. The piece totally still screams lucas-- but without your usual flair. The different prison shanks are creative and they also help tie your new style back to your old linear one.

  3. I like both of these pieces, but definetly think that the second one is more succesful. Judging by the second piece, I think you have taken what MICA has said to you in mind and like what you have done. Zooming in ave a new and better perspective, making the piece much more interesting. I like it when you work on things other than cardboard or white papar. Keep on playing with it. This piece is great, especially with the mixed mediums. It almost appears that you incorporated another drawing and cut it up? You are combing your style with new ideas and view and I really like it. The one thing that concerns me is that the both pieces seem to be of pretty much the same thing. Either way, keep it up. It looks good.

  4. Each of your individual pieces are very strong. The line quality and style of cutting a figure into geometric planes is really very interesting and fun to look at. I do feel though, that all of the pieces you've done you far are hitting the same target, so to speak. This could be viewed as a very good sense of unity in all of your pieces or as repetition. I think for your next piece you should continue with the same style but change the subject just a bit, maybe don't make a face the focus, or make the face of a very different looking person

  5. compared to your other work i feel like this is much stronger and more developed. i love the different uses of the same style. instead of the same type of face you take it apart and change your perspective. all the peices look great together and show much improvement.

  6. Lucas-- nice job bringing in the "corruption" aspect of your concentration into these. I think the first piece is more successful as the other. I understand your style and technique well, and the movement of the teal stuff coming out of the subject's mouth in addition to the hair is very well executed. The second one is just a bit too zoomed in in my perspective, and the cardboard is a little too solid, if that makes sense. Overall, these are great!
